EQUINE ASSISTED SERVICED (EAS)

EAS has been studied for its effectiveness in treating Veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).  The Man O’War Project’s clinical research findings demonstrate a test group of 8 Veterans experienced a reduction in PTS symptoms between 26% and 74%.

Reducing PTSD symptoms in Veterans reduces the associated frequency of suicidal ideation and suicidal attempts.

Reducing Veteran’s PTSD symptoms accelerates the healing process and provides more opportunity for growth of the Veterans within their families and the community.

Path

EAS is provided in accordance with PATH International guidelines and aligned with the Veterans unique needs. Click on the picture to go to PATH’s website.

Equine services provide emotional, cognitive, social and physical benefits for veterans.

Veterans have reported benefits including increased self-esteem, trust for others and community integration and decreased depression anxiety linked to post-traumatic stress disorder attacks and self-inflicting thoughts.

THE ARMORY PROJECT (AP)

The Armory Project “The Armory” is part of a peer based intervention service for Veterans and family members with safety concerns related to dangerous devices in the home.

In a time of crisis Veterans and family often feel uncomfortable in keeping possession of firearms and dangerous devices. The Armory is a secure safe location for Veterans and Family members to safely store dangerous items outside of their homes while retaining legal ownership.

AP provides informational resources to families and Veterans such as how to access legal assistance and other supportive services.

Critical Projects

Project: Horse Power

A storyboard is under development for the documentary production called: Horse Power

A flythrough of the project site in its current state, with coordination of footage of the future site of construction activities.  We want to document the buildout and future related activities.

Location

Site address is 27703 SR9 NE Arlington, WA 98223   POC: Mark Koenig 425.328.7949

Project: Mustang

Project Mustang is RHET’s initiative to integrate rescue horses into the EAS model. Yes, we intend on getting wild horses and training them to work with traumatized Veterans. What could go wrong?

Wild horses are acquired through Bureau of Land Management (BLM) through adoption procedures compliant with The Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act of 1971 (the 1971 Act).

The 1971 Act seeks to preserve wild horses and burros on federal lands as “living symbols of the historic and pioneer spirit of the West.” The law covers wild horses and burros on lands of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in the Department of the Interior and the Forest Service (FS) in the Department of

Agriculture.

Project: Rough House

Project Rough House is the design-build process of the RHET facilities.  The goal is to design and build net zero targeted structures that will be part of the operational buildings.

Ideally this project will be primarily constructed out of reclaimed lumber from the regions farms and ranches where material can be opportunistically rescued and reused.

A focus upon and off-grid model is preferred such as: PV power, solar hot water, steam power, wood gas, geothermal, etc.

This project prefers alternative building methods such as hempcreate, however testing of other biomass is underway to determine if scotch broom is a viable hemp substitute.

Project: Broadside

Project Broadside is a future initiative to introduce sailing as a therapeutic activity. Acquisition of a suitable vessel shall be remain in annual budgets.
